Yes, Sidney Crosby has been cleared to skate with the team. No, he won’t be returning to the lineup any time in the immediate future. But it’s OK. Really, it is.
Crosby is traveling to Florida with the team and will even participate in the morning skate prior to the Penguins game against Tampa Thursday. He’s obviously symptom-free, which means he’s progressing. But Crosby still hasn’t been cleared for contact, so let’s not get ahead of ourselves here.
Sid isn’t going to be back before the end of the regular season. It’s highly unlikely he’ll skate in the first round of the playoffs, and there’s a pretty good chance he’s out for the rest of the 2010-11 season. Again, this is OK. It was almost expected. But, with the unpredictable nature of concussion recovery, to see Crosby back on the ice with his teammates is encouraging. For now, let’s take this news for what it is – another positive step forward in Crosby’s road to recovery.
