I guess the Flyers got the last laugh. Max Talbot will be dressed in black and, ug, orange next season. Talbot’s offensive exploits had gone south since his two tallies in game seven against Detroit, but he was sure loveable. What a strange matrix that now exists when thinking back to one of the signature moments in recent Penguins lore – Talbot vs. Carcillo – and this recent transformation.
And then Mike Rupp signs with the Rangers. Couldn’t these two former Pens have signed in the Western Conference?!? Good for Rupper though. One of the better Tweeters in the NHL, Rupp’s on-ice promotions shouldn’t fetch $1.5 million per year, but heck, this is the Rangers, everyone gets too much money.
How did the Pens respond? With the new social media phenom, Steve Sullivan. The oft-injured forward, who will be 37 on July 6, announced he was heading to Steel Town via his twitter feed. More offensive potential (31 goals in ’05-06) than Talbot and Rupp. As much heart and moxy? To be determined.
