The Penguins won their second game in two nights at Consol, beating Chicago 4-1. The Pens erupted for all their goals in the third period. Jordan Staal scored twice, and Tyler Kennedy had a three-point night (goal, two assists). Nick Johnson, a long-shot to make the opening-day roster, had a strong game with two assists. Matt Cooke had the other goal, and Brent Johnson stopped nine of 10 shots.
So far, so good for Pittsburgh, which hosts Minnesota on Saturday afternoon (3:00) next.
