Pen’s at Sen’s Tonight

Penguin’s come into tonight’s game getting healthier than they have been in a while.    It looks like Malkin and Staal will both play and Michalek is a game time decision.

Expect Brent Johnson to be in goal tonight, as they give Fleury a much needed break.     The Pen’s did recall Tangradi and Picard  again for this game tonight to help bolster a wounded defensive unit.    A unit though that could get back Michalek as mentioned.

There is absolutely no news on Crosby and likely will not be for some time.     I bring that up because the Flyer’s just got some bad news, Pronger will miss the remainder of the season and playoffs with Severe Post Concussion Symptoms.     This concussion will likely end his career.    And there is sill no news on Letang.   Reportedly he continues to get better, but he has not been skating, so it will be some time for his return also.

With that being said, according the Official Penguins website, these are the lines that were skating together this morning:

Kunitz-Malkin-Neal
Dupuis-Staal-Kennedy
Sullivan-Vitale-Cooke
MacIntyre-Adams-Asham

and the defensive pairings looked like this.

Martin-Engelland
Orpik-Niskanen/Michalek
Picard-Despres

As we look at Ottawa tonight, they will be going without Sergei Gonchar and Milan Michalek.    If those name’s sound familiar, they should.   Milan is Zbyenek brother and will be out for his second game in a row for what else, a concussion. As far as Gonch goes, he played in Pittsburgh for many years and is  currently nursing an upper body injury that is keeping him out of the lineup.     The Senators go into tonight’s game boasting the worst scoring defense in the league giving up over 110 goals this season at an average of 3.44 per game.   On top of that, to go along with the injuries, they will be starting Alex Auld in net.     He is 0-3-2 in the games he has started.    Normally he will get an occasional spot start on the road, rarely does he play at home .

The Sen’s are 4-4 and 2 in their last 10 games.   On the offensive side of the puck,  Spezza and Karlsson are both having great seasons and Spezza is among league leaders in point and Assists.     Karlsson is among defensive league leaders in points.

There has been no report at this point of line combinations for the Ottawa Senators.   If I get that info before game time, I will get it on the site.
