Pen's Win Big Behind Malkin's Five Point Night

Malkin’s Five point night earned him the Number One Star, but more importantly helped the Pen’s get off the floor from the recent beatings they have taken from the Eastern Conference’s Heavy Weight’s.

Penguin’s scored 4 goals in the first period including First Goals of the year from Jason Williams and Simon Despres.     Malkin then chipped in 2 goals in the first period to put the game out of reach.       The Win tonight was not only a big win for this team to get things straightened out, but it was a landmark victory of sorts, also.     It was Fleury’s 200th victory in the NHL and one that he has been working on for a couple of games now.     He stopped 16 of 19 shots, and the defense in front of him played much better.

Thomas Vanek scored for the Sabre’s in the first period.    Vanek is one of Buffalo’s only offensive threats, and he played well tonight.    Unlike Goalie Ryan Miller, whom stopped 10 of the first 15 shots he faced, and was then taken out and replaced by Enroth who stopped only 8 of the 11 shots he faced.    It was just one of those nights for the Pen’s where everything they threw at the net went in. Buffalo got 2 late goals from Paul Gaustad and Luke Adam.

Sidney Crosby was put on the Injured List Officially this afternoon.    This is just not something they do to someone whom is coming back soon.    I would suggest, without really knowing anything that we probably will not see him again for at least 2 months, maybe more.     When he spoke the other day, he stated that he hoped that this was not going to be a 7 to 8 month recovery.     That statement I think is very telling in the fact that he really has no expectations at this point.     Get Well Soon Sid.
