When first reported that the Pittsburgh Penguin’s Sidney Crosby had sustained a vertebrae injury, it was followed by the report that the injury had healed completely and that Sid was back on the ice. The Penguins had found this information out on Tuesday reportedly. What was not originally disclosed is the fact that the Concussion Symptoms have not gone away. Though diminished, he is still suffering from balance issues.
At this point, not to be contrary to what I originally reported, he is really no closer to being on the ice practicing and hitting then he was a few weeks ago. There is still much time before a return to the ice would be ruled out for the season, but the fact that he has gone all over the country and is no farther along than before is more than troubling.
I know the team does not want to consider this, and I am sure Sid does not either, but at what point is one or the other going to give in and decide to take him off the ice till next season or just have him play at 90-95%? I guess the question to ask is at what point is Sid going to give in and just be OKAY with 90%?
I will update this as the information becomes more known. At this point, the Penguins have not issued a statement, though I would imagine that one would be coming fairly soon.
