Pens Make A Big Move

The Pittsburgh Penguins made a huge move without making one single trade today. They were able to tie up one of the leagues leading goal scorer’s for 6 years.

James Neal signed a 6 year 30 million dollar extension today. There has been talk, including by myself that his play may have priced him right out of the city. I guess, that was not the case. Ray Shero was able to work some magic, and tie him up long term. This was a great signing and a great sign that the Pens are in this for the long haul.

We new they would keep the stars, though those issues need to be addressed over the next few years as Sid’s contract will come up and so will Geno’s. Sid’s being a little more interesting with his current injury situation. We will soon see, but for now, the James Neal deal makes today another “Great Day For Hockey.”
