Penguins Stand Pat At The Deadline

The Trade Deadline has come and gone, and the Pittsburgh Penguins did not make a move.     It is the first time since 1989 that the Penguins did not make a move at the Deadline or shortly before.

Ray Shero decided to take his chances with the team he has, but he is hoping to get a late addition that could turn this team into not just a team that can legitimately compete for a cup, to a team that would be favored in a big way.   He is waiting for Sidney Crosby, but It looks and sounds to me as if Sid will not be returning this year because there is just not enough time  for him to get in the contact part of practice in time  for a  return.    Not to mention, return for what is, the most intense hockey that is played….Playoff Hockey.

Shero also decided they are going to ride out the rest of the season with Fleury, Johnson, and Thiessen.      More or less, it will be Fleury and Thiessen.     Thiessen had a nice game the other night against the Blue Jackets.       It will provide him with something to build on.

The Penguins were off today, but will be back at it tomorrow.   If you would like to follow me on Twitter you can at Sports Monger, and on Facebook at Pittsburgh Sports Monger.      Don’t miss the latest episode of Sports Monger Radio and all the up to the minute Penguins news.
