Letang Could Be Out For A While

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced today that Kris Letang is having symptoms and the last time he went through this he missed 21 games.        It is entirely possible that he could have played his last game this year as a Penguin.

This Penguins team was a real cup contender even without Crosby, but without Crosby and Letang, I do not believe they can win a cup.    After hearing many analysts today, that seems to be the sentiment.        They could get to the playoffs and cause some problems maybe, but Letang really helps make the Power Play go, and he is an undisputed leader on defense.      Not to mention that this is the second concussion  in the same season.     One has to consider how this will affect his career in general.      Nystrom was not suspended, but could face a fine of some sort.    Steve Sullivan, whom also left yesterdays game in the third period with a lower body injury is considered day to day.     We could see him back in the lineup by Monday.

Last nights game was one of the best games of the season, and huge win for the Penguins.    Coming back after giving up a go ahead goal with less than 30 seconds in the second period was huge and it showed how playoff ready they WERE.     With Dallas essentially playing playoff hockey to stay alive for a spot in the post season, they threw everything but the kitchen sink at the Pens and Fleury last night and the Penguins were able to prevail.

The Penguins gave maintenance days to Malkin , Fleury, Johnson, Orpik, and Engelland.      The Penguins played some mini games against the University of denver as they played in their facility preparing for their game this weekend for the Avalanche.        With the Injuries and maintenance days, several  Penguin players dawned the Yellow Denver University Jersey to even up the teams and to have a little fun.

The Penguins play Colorado on Saturday Night at 9:00pm.     If you would like to follow me on Twitter you can at Sports Monger and also on Facebook at Pittsburgh Sports Monger.       Lastly, do not miss Sports Monger Radio on Friday Nights at 11pm.
