Pens Prepare For The Devils In New Jersey

The Pittsburgh Penguins had an off day today in preperation of playing the Devils Saturday and Philly Sunday.     The Penguins did get on the ice in Jersey to practice, though they were without Asham for he was held out because of an illness.

Both Crosby and Letang were both on the ice this afternoon skating and practicing with the team.    The only other player that was not on the ice was Brent Johnson and he is still recovering from an injury.      Expect to see Brad Thiessen in net either tomorrow or Sunday.    As for Crosby and the amount of minutes he will be playing over the next couple of games this weekend, Coach Dan Bylsma had this to say as reported by Sam Kasan of the Pens Report.

I still would want to try to minimize situations where we’d normally put him out.

The Penguins are flying high right now with a 10 game winning streak and Fleury has been a huge part of that, but it has also been the scoring of Kunitz, Dupuis, Steve Sullivan and Matt Cooke.     When you get contributions from the supporting cast from all of your top 3 lines, it gives your team lots of options, and right now I am not sure that there is another team that has as many superstar and quality options as this Penguins team.

The Devils come into tomorrows game at noon winning at a pace of 6-3 and 1 in their last 10 games and 3 of the last 4 including a 1-0 victory over the Avalanche in a shootout on Thursday.    The Devils  seem to always play the Penguins tough and have won all 3 of the games so far this season against the Pens so far this year.      They are led by the Normal cast of Characters including Ilya Kovalchuk, Zach Parise and Patrik Elias.      Martin Broduer and Johan Hedberg have both been strong in the net and look to continue their dominance over the Pens.

As a public service announcement, Sidney Crosby was awarded another assist last night after further review of the Pascal Dupuis goal.     The Puck will drop at Noon on Saturday in New Jersey.
