Flyers Take Game 1

The Philadelphia Flyers came back from a 3-0 deficit to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins in overtime with a final of 4-3 to take a 1 game series lead.

The Penguins came out strong to start the Stanley Cup Playoffs scoring 3 goals in the first period. Sidney Crosby got the festivities started as he lit the lamp that gave the Penguins the early 1-0 lead. Goals by Tyler Kennedy and Pascal Dupuis made the game 3-0 after the first period.

All looked right in Pittsburgh for the Pens to cruise to a game 1 victory. That was not the case. The Flyers came out in the 2nd,3rd and the overtime session determined to battle back and win game 1. Danny Briere was a big part of the comback, scoring 2 goals for the Flyers that cut the lead to 3-2. In the 3rd period, Then a little over halfway into the 3rd Period the Flyers capitalized on the powerplay on a redirect from Brayden Schenn.

In the overtime at the 2:23 mark Jakub Voracek lit the lamp to complete the Game 1 comeback for the Flyers. The win moved the Flyers to 3-1 in overtime games against the Pens in the Playoffs. The Penguins will have a chance to even up the series in Game 2 come friday night at Consol Energy Center. Puck set to drop at 7:30PM.

The Pens will have to make some adjustments to secure a game 2 victory. Evegeni Malkin and James Neal will have to find some offensive firepower to assist the Penguins offense.
