USA Beats Kazahkstan 3-2 In OT

The US Team was able to get by Kazahkstan on Friday with a 3-2 Win in Overtime.     It was closer than expected, but of course these are the World Championships.

Richard Bachman made his first start in goal for the US team and did not face as much as the opposing goalie did.     The US out shot Kazahkstan 16-6 in the first period  and 47 to 19 overall.     Kakahkstan’s goalie  Vitali Kolesnik played a great game.

“You have to tip your hat to [Kolesnik], he played an amazing game,” said Team USA goaltender Richard Bachman.

After both teams went scoreless in the first period, JT Brown scored for the Americans to give them a 1-0 lead.     Kazahkstan was able to keep the game close with help from their Goalie and the defense in front of him.      Close enough in fact that before the period was up, they were able to tie the game up.

The US scored early in the 3rd period with a Justin Faulk goal to give them the lead 2-1.     Almost 10 minutes later, Kazakhstan was able to once again tie things up.      That would be all the scoring for the rest of the period and regular time.

The game went to overtime where Justin Faulk did it again but this time he was able to end the game and give the US the Win not to mention allowing his entire team a collective sigh of relief after that game.

The US will play Finland on Sunday.    If you would like to follow me on Twitter you can @sportsmonger and on Sports Monger Radio.
