World Championships Over For The US Team

The US vs Finland Rematch did not go the Americans way, and because of that, the Tournament is over for US team.    Finland won the game by a score of 3-2 on Thursday as it set them up for a Semi-final match against the Russians.

Once again the US team played a game that consisted of no scoring in the first period.       This has happened 3 of last 4 games they have played.      It was played very close to the vest in the first period.      Then in the second period the Fins took the lead at the 13:37 mark of period by a score of 1-0.     That would not last very long as the Americans would tie things up with a Kyle Palmieri goal just 20 seconds later.   That would end up being all the scoring that would happen in the 2nd period.

The third period would start with the US squad taking the lead with another Bobby Ryan goal to take a 2-1 lead.     That would last for about 10 minutes before  Finland would tie things up.        The Fins and US team would battle up until the very end of the game when Finland would take the lead with 9 seconds left in the game.     An absolute heart breaker of a loss for the Americans, though so many of their young players were able to get some great experience from playing in this tournament.

Bobby Ryan led the Americans  with 5 goals and finished with a total of 7 points.     Max Pacioretti led the team with points overall with 12 followed by Paul Stastny with 9 points.       Lots of players made solid contributions this year but these 3 players stood out the most.
