Reports From CBS Sports That Sidney Crosby And Penguins Agree On Deal

It is being widely reported that the Pittsburgh Penguins and Sidney Crosby have agreed on a deal, although they can not sign the deal till July 1st.      CBS Sports.com is reporting that the 2 parties, Penguins and Crosby have agreed on a deal that would keep Sid in Pittsburgh for the next 10 years for a reported 9 million a season.

Although the deal can not be signed, this seems to be all but a done deal and for both parties, a good deal in deed.     Sidney Crosby could have asked for more money, but his concern was the amount of years.     He wanted to have that stability and he likes playing and living in Pittsburgh so it will work out well for him.

The fact that he could have asked for more money and he did not went a long way in helping the Penguins.     Sidney Crosby would only be getting an additional $300,ooo.00 per season more than he is getting now.      Total value of the deal is $90 million.     This makes signing Malkin next season more than possible, though I am not convinced he will stay.

In recent days, there has been more speculation that Jordan Staal may end up in Carolina with his brother.     If that turns out to be the case, it is very important for the Penguins Organization to not only get Sid locked up, but then Evgeni Malkin.    And if Staal does leave, that should open up available cash to go out and get a legitimate  winger for Sidney Crosby.

As stated earlier, nothing can be signed off, but a deal can exist under the table until the July 1st deadline.    And that, at this point looks like is what is going on right now.
