Who is Theodor Bluegur?

With the 52nd overall pick in the NHL draft the Pittsburgh Penguins selected Theodor Blueger. What do we know about one of the newest Penguins.

A 17 year old C/LW out of Riga, Latvia. He was born on August 15 1994. The 6ft , 171 pounder has played for Shattuck-St. Mary’s the last 2 seasons tallying 48 goals and 105 assists in 105 gmaes before being drafted by the Penguins. Shattuck-St.Mary’s is the same high school that Sidney Crosby and Zach Parise attended. Bluegur will attend Minnesota State next season. Bluegur was the leader at Shattuck-St. Mary’s leading them to 2 staright USA Hockey National Under 18-Titles. Bluegur was ranked 116th overall by NHL Central Scouting.

His best asset is his hockey sensibility and creating scoring chances for himself and his teammates. He is a complete player that can play in alll situations. Bluegur tries to model his playing style after Pavel Dastyuk. Bluegur was one of three centers taken by the Penguins in the draft as well as one of three European players taken in 2012.
