Evgeni Malkin Scoreless, KHL

Evgeni Malkin

While most of the Pittsburgh Penguins roster find themselves out of work and scrimmaging at local complexes around the city, superstar Evgeni Malkin is still searching for his first goal in the KHL.  Through three games with the Metallurg Magnitogorsk squad, he’s compiled four assists and has averaged just over twenty-two minutes of ice time.

In Magnitogorsk’s most recent game against Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk, Malkin finished with three assists, 12 shots-on-goal, and converted 18 of his 29 face-off attempts in their 7-2 win.  He registered his first assist just 2:42 into the opening period on a goal by Kulemin.  The other two assists were split between second and third period power play goals.

The team has a record of 3-2-2 thus far, and plays tomorrow, Sept. 27, at 8am-EST{5pm-MSK}.
