Following last nights ‘Black vs. Gold’ intrasquad scrimmage, the Pittsburgh Penguins have reportedly sent down forwards Beau Bennett, Jayson Megna and have kept defenseman Simon Despres.

Bennett shared time on the top lines as well as the PP, while Megna also participated in the scrimmage.  Bennett scored one goal with no assists and Megna was able to score the game winning goal for Team Black in the shootout.

Bennett has led the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins with 24 points (6G, 18A) in 30 contests so far this year while Megna has tallied 6 points (3G, 3A) in 19 games.  Bennett was thought to possibly line up with the Malkin-Neal line, but the Penguins have chosen to have him finish out the season he started in the AHL.

Despres spent time on the team last year and the organization will ask him to take the next step.  The former first rounder will most likely join Kris Letang as a defensive partner.

In other news, defenseman Brian Strait was put on waivers.  He will then be placed on Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, barring if he clears those waivers by Friday at noon.

Stay tuned for more roster move details.
