Pens Recall Joseph Morrow

The Pittsburgh Penguins and GM Ray Shero announced today that they have recalled defenseman Joseph Morrow from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton – according to the team’s website.

Morrow was the Pens 2011 first round draft pick (23rd overall) and due to the team’s recent injury woes on defense, he will most likely make his NHL debut tonight against the New Jersey Devils.

So far this year, the 20-year-old been able to post 10 points (2G, 8A) through 10 contests with the WBS Penguins, while skating with a minus-4 rating.

The year before when he was in the WHL with the Portland Winterhawks, Morrow skated with Derrick Pouliot, Pittsburgh’s 2012 first round selection (8th overall). And in that 2011-2012 season, Morrow potted 64 points (17G, 47A) in 62 games.

Pens play tonight in Pittsburgh against the Devils at 7:30 p.m.
