Tangradi, 24, was acquired by the Pens in the Ryan Whitney trade, in which Pittsburgh also got Chris Kunitz. At the start of this season, Tangradi was thought to be the final top-six forward – but those plans had failed.
In five contests, Tangradi was only able to maintain a plus-2 rating as he went scoreless in every game. And the situation eventually resulted in healthy-scratching the 2007 second-round selection (42nd overall) for most of Pittsburgh’s games thus far.
It was also announced that the team has re-assigned defenseman Dylan Reese to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. In three games with Pittsburgh this year, Reese was unable to record a point.
