It was announced by the Pittsburgh Penguins and GM Ray Shero this morning that they have recalled prized forward Beau Bennett from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Bennett, 21, will now look to make his NHL debut tomorrow when the Pens take on the Winnipeg Jets.
So far this year with WBS, Bennett has collected 25 points (7G, 18A) in 35 contests, while also being named to the AHL All-Star game.
The Penguins selected Bennett in the first round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft (20th overall) and was at first thought to make the team at the start of the year when he was invited to Pittsburgh’s training camp.
But after scoring a goal in the “Black & Gold” game at the end of camp, Bennett was then sent back to the AHL, as the team ultimately decided to roll with forward Eric Tangradi.
Now that the Pens have made some recent moves, including Tangradi’s departure, Bennett has finally gotten his call.
There’s no word on where he’ll line up, but hopefully the Pens top prospect can perform well enough to stay with the team after Friday.
Pens play the Winnipeg Jets in Winnipeg tomorrow at 7 p.m.
