In addition to putting Kris Letang on injured reserve and recalling Simon Despres, the Pittsburgh Penguins announced that they have sent defenseman Robert Bortuzzo to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on a conditioning assignment – according to the Pens’ website.

Bortuzzo, 24, has registered two points (1G, 1A) in 11 contests for Pittsburgh.  He also has skated with a plus-3 rating for the Pens this season.

Even though Bortuzzo will be down in the AHL on this duty, the team noted that Bortuzzo will remain on the Penguins 23-man roster.
