The Pittsburgh Penguins and general manager Ray Shero announced that they have re-assigned forward Beau Bennett to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton – according to the Pens’ website.

Bennett, 21, was playing on forward Evgeni Malkin’s second line before the Russian dynamo went down with a shoulder injury. In 19 games this season he’s registered nine points (2G, 7A) and skated to a plus-7 rating.

Bennett’s stay in the AHL might be short.

When the rosters expand in April, Bennett will more than likely be recalled.
