Pens Recall Forward Beau Bennett From AHL

The Pittsburgh Penguins and general manager Ray Shero announced today that they have recalled forward Beau Bennett from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton – according to the Pens’ website.

Bennett, 21, has played in 19 contests for the Pens this season, registering 9 points (2G, 7A) and skating to an impressive plus-7 rating so far.

This move may also mean that forward James Neal might be out for a little bit, after he took an elbow from New York Rangers defenseman Michael Del Zotto Friday, April 5th.

Seeing time on forward Evgeni Malkin’s line before being sent down, Bennett is the perfect backup plan for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Bennett last played March 26th against Montreal, where he failed to record a point and only saw 7:52 minutes of ice-time.

Hopefully they’re just taking Neal out for precautionary measures and further examination. Bennett occasionally playing with Ignila is interesting. Kid can flat out play. Everyone was worried where all the players would fit -like injuries weren’t right behind the door.

Couldn’t agree with you more Nate. The Pens have depth, that’s for sure. But Bennett’s maturity, accompanied with his play this season (following a wrist injury last year) has been great news for Pittsburgh. He’ll most likely learn this season, play more next.

Which is fine considering the amount of “rental” players they have this year.

….with Pittsburgh anything goes though. lol.
