Report: Sidney Crosby Out For Wednesday’s Series Opener

Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby will miss tonight’s series opener against the New York Islanders.

Crosby told the media this morning after he went to see the doctor for medical clearance Tuesday afternoon – per the Pens’ Twitter handle:

“[Doctor] said everything looks good, he just wasn’t prepared to clear me to play …I’ll make sure I’m ready when the time comes”

This is a blow to Pens fans – but the team is ready to roll without him.

Head coach Dan Bylsma has been preparing minus number-87 on the ice – per Twitter:

“We’ve been playing and preparing with or without Sidney Crosby in our lineup.  We’ve practiced without. We’re ready to go.”

Game 1 in Pittsburgh tonight at 7:30 p.m.
