Add another nomination for Sidney Crosby.
The Pens captain has been named a finalist for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy – which is given to the skater whom “best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sporstmanship and dedication to hockey,” – according to the Pens’ website.
Crosby has never won this award.
You’d think being considered for the Hart and Ted Lindsay trophies would be enough for number-87 — but apparently a broken jaw and a shortened season isn’t going to be enough to hold him back from achieving greatness.
Crosby registered 56 points (15G, 41A) in 36 games and skated to a phenomenal plus-26 rating for Pittsburgh this season.
