After signing an amateur tryout contract yesterday, Pittsburgh’s top prospect Derrick Pouliot will reportedly now join the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton during their current playoff run – according to the Pens’ website.

Pouliot, 19, helped the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League (WHL) claim the WHL Championship this past season and will now look to contribute with the baby Pens.

In 44 regular-season games with Portland, Pouliot compiled 45 points (9G, 36A) and he also registered 20 points (4G, 16A) in 21 postseason contests.

Drafted in the first-round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft (8th overall), Pouliot is by far Pittsburgh’s most prized prospect and he will get a chance to show that Friday night.

Hopefully if he plays at all he can make immediate impact at WBS.
