The Pittsburgh Penguins have traded forward Tyler Kennedy to the San Jose Sharks for a second-round draft pick (50th overall) in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft – according to the Pens’ website.

Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported via Twitter that general manager Ray Shero said he wanted to try and acquire a potential second-rounder from this years draft – and now he has.

Kennedy, who was a restricted free agent this summer, has played his entire NHL career with the Pens – helping the team capture the Stanley Cup in 2009.

In 448 games between the regular-season and postseason with Pittsburgh, Kennedy registered 195 points (88G, 107A).
