Pens' Announce Lineup For Monday's Game

The Pittsburgh Penguins’ have announced their starting lineup for Monday’s matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks, set to be played at the CONSOL Energy Center – according to the Pens’ website.

This lineup is by far the most intriguing one to date because all the Pens’ premiere players will be suiting up, and a few high-end prospects as well.

Monday’s matchup against Chicago will be the first time this preseason that Pens’ fans get to watch captain Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin take the ice together, along with first-round defensemen Olli Maatta and Derrick Pouliot.

Here’s how the lineup looks for Pittsburgh’s fifth preseason game:

  • Beau Bennett, RW
  • Sidney Crosby, C
  • Matt D’Agostini, RW
  • Pascal Dupuis, RW
  • Tanner Glass, LW
  • Dustin Jeffrey, LW
  • Chuck Kobasew, RW
  • Chris Kunitz, LW
  • Evgeni Malkin, C
  • James Neal, LW
  • Joe Vitale, C
  • Harry Zolnierczyk, LW

  • Robert Bortuzzo
  • Simon Despres
  • Kris Letang
  • Olli Maatta
  • Matt Niskanen
  • Derrick Pouliot
  • Rob Scuderi

  • Marc-Andre Fleury
  • Jeff Zatkoff

What’ll be interesting for this game is seeing who the defensemen pair up with, considering both Maatta and Pouliot will be present.  Pouliot will probably perform on the powerplay, and in all likelihood play alongside Kris Letang, so the reason to watch is even higher.

Chuck Kobasew is another appealing watch, as he has performed better than anticipated, and is fighting to keep a roster spot.

The game is set to start at 7 p.m., and can be seen on WPCW-TV.
