The Pittsburgh Penguins and general manager Ray Shero have reportedly recalled forward Beau Bennett and sent forward Chris Conner and defenseman Harrison Ruopp down to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton – according to the Pens’ website.
Bennett, 21, was briefly re-assigned to the Wheeling Nailers of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), but he’s all systems go now for Thursday’s opener.
Conner and Ruopp were both looking to make Pittsburgh’s final roster this year; however, they’ll finally be able to settle in at WBS for the upcoming 2013-14 campaign.
Bennett is expected to be a major contributor towards Pittsburgh’s offense this season, after showcasing his potential in the few games he performed in last season.
There’s still no official word on where he’ll line up, but chances are he’s getting the nod for the third-line gig with Matt D’Agostini shelved.
Pens open up against the New Jersey Devils Thursday, and the game is set to start at 7 p.m.
