Pittsburgh Penguins’ captain Sidney Crosby has been reportedly named NHL ‘Third Star’ of the week - according to the NHL’s website.

The ‘First Star’ was given to San Jose Sharks’ forward Tomas Hertl, and the ‘Second Star’ was handed out to Colorado Avalanche’ goaltender Semyon Varlamov.

Leading the league in scoring with seven points (3G, 4A) in three games, Crosby recorded his first hat-trick during the regular-season since 2010 in Saturday’s win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, and he dished out four assists — one being the game-winning helper against the Lightning.

Playing in five contests so far, Crosby leads the entire NHL in scoring with nine points (5G, 4A), and he’s tied for second in goals — two behind Hertl.

Crosby is averaging 1.8 points-per-game, and is on track for a terrific finish.
