Report: Pens Recall Forward Brian Gibbons

The Pittsburgh Penguins and general manager Ray Shero have reportedly recalled forward Brian Gibbons from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton – according to the team’s website.

Gibbons, 25, signed with Pittsburgh as an undrafted free agent on April 4, 2011, and has spent three seasons playing for WBS. In 15 games so far this season, Gibbons has recorded 22 points (7G, 15A) and is tied with defenseman Simon Despres for the league-lead in plus/minus (plus-13).

The 15 helpers he has dished out are tops in the AHL, and the 22 points he’s collected rank third in the league for that category.

Performing in a total of 155 career regular-season contests, Gibbons has compiled 82 points (26G, 56A) and he’s registered eight points (3G, 5A) in 24 postseason games.
