Evgeni Malkin Named NHL's 'First Star' Of Week

Pittsburgh Penguins’ forward Evgeni Malkin has reportedly been named the NHL’s ‘First Star’ of the week — according to the team’s website.

Leading all NHL players in points (8) and assists (7), Malkin helped Pittsburgh win three contests last week to reclaim their top-spot in the Metropolitan Division.

Ending a stretch of 15-games without a goal in last Friday’s matchup against the New York Islanders, Malkin currently leads the entire NHL in assists (22) and has looked stronger than ever in recent play.

In fact, Malkin is also leading the league in points for this month (16) and has seen the scoresheet in 10-of-11 November contests.

Montreal Canadiens’ forward Max Pacioretty was named the ‘Second Star’ and Edmonton Oilers’ goaltender Devan Dubnyk was honored as the ‘Third Star’ as well.
