Evgeni Malkin Hurt In Morning Skate; Out Tonight

Pittsburgh Penguins’ forward Evgeni Malkin was reportedly injured during the team’s morning skate, and will miss tonight’s matchup with the San Jose Sharks – according to Sam Kasan of the Pens’ website.

Head coach Dan Bylsma told the media that Malkin sustained a lower-body injury, and his status is day-to-day.

Defenseman Matt Niskanen reportedly skated in place of Malkin on the team’s top power-play unit, and center Brandon Sutter will most likely man the second-line for tonight’s tilt.

This is a huge blow to Pittsburgh. If Malkin is out for longer than tonight’s game, it will certainly effect how well forward James Neal will perform and how much the team can score. Let’s hope his ailment is just a precaution.

The game tonight can be seen on the ROOT Network, and is set to start at 7 p.m.
