Pens' Kris Letang Placed On Injured Reserve

The Pittsburgh Penguins have reportedly placed defenseman Kris Letang on injured reserve – according to the team’s website.

Head coach Dan Bylsma reported after Saturday’s game that Letang suffered an upper-body injury, and would require further testing. Speculation is that he injured himself in Friday’s matchup against New Jersey, but there’s no clarification. No word on if it’s a long-term ailment, and no timetable has been set for his return.

The Pens’ will now be without their top-4 defensemen (Letang, Paul Martin, Brooks Orpik, Rob Scuderi) and have to rely, for the most part, on the WBS’ call-ups. Although Scuderi is close to returning, the other three are not expected back soon.

Injuries galore. Pittsburgh just can’t seem to shake them.
