Pittsburgh Penguins’ head coach Dan Bylsma reported that forward Jayson Megna will miss the next six weeks with a lower-body injury – according to the team’s Twitter handle.

Megna, 23, has not played since exiting Monday’s matchup against Toronto, in which he collided with Leafs’ goaltender Jonathan Bernier and sequentially crashed into the boards. Immediately following the incident, Megna was having trouble skating back to the bench and seemed to be favoring his right leg.

Due to the length of his IR stint, it’s very possible that he broke something. It’s a shame, because Megna was playing exceptionally well before he went down.

In 15 games for Pittsburgh, Megna has collected six points (4G, 2A) and skated to an impressive plus-3 rating.
