Report: Pens' Brian Gibbons Named to AHL All-Star Classic

Pittsburgh Penguins’ forward Brian Gibbons has reportedly been selected to participate in the 2014 AHL All-Star Classic  - according to the team’s website.

The All-Star Classic is scheduled for February 11-12, and Gibbons will be making his first appearance in the event.

Gibbons, 25, leads all Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’ players in scoring with 27 points (9G, 18A) through just 23 games. His 18 assists also tops the team in that category, and he’s skating to a plus-9 rating with WBS.

Despite only playing in 23 contests for WBS, Gibbons ranks tied for eleventh in the AHL for scoring.

Gibbons has performed in 11 games for Pittsburgh so far this season, collecting five points (2G, 3A) and skating to a plus-2 rating. The loss of forwards Beau Bennett and Pascal Dupuis have him currently slotted on the top-line with Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz.

Not to bad for a guy who was signed by Pittsburgh as an undrafted free agent out of Boston College.
