The Pittsburgh Penguins and general manager Ray Shero have reportedly sent down forward Andrew Ebbett to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton – according to the team’s website.

Ebbett, 31, has played in seven games for Pittsburgh and collected one assist.

In 18 contests for WBS, Ebbett’s compiled 15 points (6G, 9A) and skated to a plus-4 rating. He currently ranks seventh on WBS in scoring.

Ebbett’s re-assignment also may indicate that forward Joe Vitale is close to returning. Vitale was given a timetable of three weeks for recovery back on Jan. 13.

Vitale has been out the past 10 games with an upper-body injury.
