Report: Pens Place Chuck Kobasew on Waivers

The Pittsburgh Penguins have reportedly placed forward Chuck Kobasew on waivers Monday – according to Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com and TSN.

Kobasew, 31, was signed to a professional tryout contract (PTO) before the preseason started, and then rewarded with a one-year deal worth $550,000 on Oct. 2.

Much like former winger Matt D’Agostini was this season, Kobasew has been highly ineffective.

Jumpstarting the season with goals in back-to-back games, Kobasew’s failed to register a single point since. Even a right-wing stint on Sidney Crosby’s line couldn’t revive the struggling Kobasew.

Through 31 games, Kobasew’s mustered two goals, and skated to a plus-1 rating. Both goals were game-winners.
