Report: Pens Prospect Josh Archibald a Hobey Baker Finalist

Pittsburgh Penguins’ prospect forward Josh Archibald, who is currently playing for the University of Nebraska-Omaha, is reportedly a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award – according to the Pens’ Twitter handle.

The award is given to college hockey’s best player, and Archibald will be up against nine others who are eligible to receive it.

Selected by Pittsburgh in the sixth round (174th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Archibald has performed exceptionally this season for Nebraska-Omaha. Collecting 43 points (29G, 14A) in 37 games – per Hockey DB – Archibald placed second in all of NCAA hockey for goals.

Setting a school record for most goals in a season, Archibald also garnered two hat tricks, which is now a university-best.

Jake Guentzel, who was Pittsburgh’s third round selection (77th overall) in this past draft, was also rostered with Nebraska-Omaha this season.
