Pens Injury Report 3/21: Bennett to Play in WBS, Vitale Hurt

Injured Pittsburgh Penguins’ forward Beau Bennett will reportedly play a few contests down in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton – according to head coach Dan Bylsma and the Pens’ Twitter handle – before eventually returning to the lineup, while forward Joe Vitale apparently is dealing with an upper-body ailment.

Bennett, whose been out since Nov. 22 with a hand/wrist injury, has been practicing with the team lately, and will probably get to play for Pittsburgh sometime next week.

There’s still questions as to where he’ll line up, but due to the emergence of Lee Stempniak on Sidney Crosby’s top-line, it’s hard to envision Bennett replacing him.

In 12 games this season, Bennett’s collected three points (1G, 2A).

Vitale, who only performed in nine minutes last night, will miss this weekend’s games between the Tampa Bay Lightning and St. Louis Blues.

As-far-as defenseman Kris Letang and goaltender Tomas Vokoun, all signs indicate that they were present for today’s practice.

Saturday’s tilt against Tampa Bay can be seen on the NHL and ROOT Networks, and is set to start at 1 p.m.
