Pittsburgh Penguins’ prospect forward Josh Archibald has reportedly signed an amateur tryout contract (ATO) with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton – according to the WBS’ website.
Archibald, who was originally selected by Pittsburgh in the sixth round (174th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, just concluded his junior year at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
Compiling 43 points (29G, 14A) in 37 games, Archibald set the Nebraska-Omaha single-season record for goals, and is currently a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award – which is given to the best college hockey player.
Jake Guentzel, Pittsburgh’s third round (77th overall) selection this past draft, played with Archibald this season at Nebraska-Omaha.
Look for Archibald to be playing for the WBS Penguins in the near future.
