Pens Injury Report 3/30: Letang Practices, Vitale Skates

Injured Pittsburgh Penguins’ defenseman Kris Letang reportedly practiced Sunday, while forward Joe Vitale skated, but is still a ways away – according to the Pens’ Twitter handle.

Ever since Letang was cleared to practice he hasn’t missed an opportunity to. Still without an official timetable – other than the indefinitely status – time is working against Letang with only eight games left.

At this point, if Letang returns, it will arguably be in the playoffs. And I don’t know if they’ll want him to be re-inserted then – due to conditioning/severity of his injury.

In 34 games this season Letang’s collected 18 points (10G, 8A) and skated to a minus-6 rating.

Vitale, who hasn’t played since Mar. 20 against Detroit, is still nursing a mid-body injury, and is listed as week-to-week, but skating on Sunday is certainly progression. Don’t expect him to return anytime soon – possibly next week.

Although his name hasn’t surfaced lately, in terms of updates, all information indicates goaltender Tomas Vokoun also practiced today.

He has yet to play this season.
