The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Detroit Red Wings 4-3 Wednesday night in an epic battle between two really good teams.

And it was all thanks to an eyebrow-raising save made by Pens’ goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury in the shootout.

After a high-rising shot delivered by forward James Neal failed to beat ‘Wings goaltender Jonas Gustavsson, Fleury was then faced with the task of stopping forward Daniel Alfredsson.

Skating down and ready to take a forehand shot, Alfredsson quickly shifted to the backhand, to which Fleury sprawled over on his back and wrapped his arm down on the goal-line to shut the door on Alfredsson’s attempt.

Fleury’s made some pretty impressive saves this season – one being on Ottawa Senators’ defenseman Erik Karlsson – but this one may have been his finest, and arguably the best stop by any goaltender this 2013-14 campaign.
