Report: Pens Send Despres, Kobasew, Zolnierczyk Down to WBS

The Pittsburgh Penguins have reportedly sent defenseman Simon Despres, and forwards Chuck Kobasew and Harry Zolnierczyk down to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton – according to the Pens’ Twitter handle.

Despres played in 34 games for Pittsburgh, and he dished out five assists while skating to a plus-4 rating.

Kobasew, who performed in his first NHL game since Mar. 4 on Sunday, collected two goals through 33 games for Pittsburgh this season.

Zolnierczyk skated in 13 contests this season for Pittsburgh, and he, like Kobasew, registered two goals.

These moves were expected, and also may indicate that Chris Conner, Evgeni Malkin, and Joe Vitale are set to return.

Wednesday’s Game 1 can be seen on the NBC Sports Network, and is set to start at 7:30 p.m.
