Pens Injury Report 4/16: Goc, Malkin, Vitale Updates

Injured Pittsburgh Penguins’ forward Marcel Goc, who has been out since Mar. 27 with a foot ailment, reportedly skated before the team’s practice on Wednesday, but is not expected to perform in round-one of the playoffs – according to Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

As said above, Goc attempted to lace ‘em up on Tuesday, however, was unable to do so. And that right there tells us that Goc is still feeling significant pain.

There hasn’t been much information regarding Goc’s status of late, and now his arrival in the second-round – should Pittsburgh advance – is questionable.

Goc has missed the last nine games.

In 12 contests for Pittsburgh this season, Goc has garnered two assists.

Forwards Evgeni Malkin (foot) and Joe Vitale (mid-body) both reportedly practiced again – per the Pens’ Twitter handle – and although nothing’s confirmed, they’re each expected to be penciled into tonight’s lineup.

Head coach Dan Bylsma relayed to the media that the lineup is a game-time decision.

Tonight’s Game 1 against the Columbus Blue Jackets can be seen on the NBC Sports Network, and is set to start at 7:30 p.m.
