According to TSN’s Bob McKenzie, the Pittsburgh Penguins were reportedly expected to announce the firings of head coach Dan Bylsma and general manager Ray Shero. However, it was only Shero whose been relieved so far – per Josh Yohe of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Jason Botterill will serve as the interim GM, but will also be a candidate to become the man for the job – per Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

The Pens’ held a press conference this morning to relay Shero’s departure at 11:30 a.m – per Yohe.

After a disappointing postseason result for the fifth consecutive season, both Bylsma and Shero were all but assured a spot on the chopping block. And Shero’s decision to hand Bylsma a two-year extension before the season started may be the main reason as to why he’ll no longer serve as the team’s GM.
