Recently re-assigned forward Brian Gibbons scored what was an unfathomable goal in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s Game 7 victory over the Providence Bruins Wednesday night.
Seriously, this goal was something straight out of NHL 14.
Winning the face-off at center-ice, Gibbons would skate into the Bruins’ zone, but then tail back over the blue-line, cradling the puck as he did. Curling back around, Gibbons then split two defenders, then another two, carry it on net and bury a backhander past Bruins’ netminder Niklas Svedberg.
Here, it’s better if I just show you what I’m talking about – courtesy of SwissHabs:
The WBS Penguins ended up beating the Bruins 5-4, and will now move on to face the St. John’s Icecaps in the Eastern Conference Finals, who are the Winnipeg Jets’ affiliate.
Catch Gibbons and the rest of WBS Saturday, as they get set to play Game 1 against the Icecaps. The tilt will start at 7:30 p.m.
