Report: Evgeni Malkin, Russia Win Gold Medal at WC

The Pittsburgh Penguins may not have won anything this season, but one of their players did.

Pens’ star center Evgeni Malkin, who was performing over at the World Championships for the Russian team, scored what turned out to be game-winning goal in a 5-2 victory over Finland en route to Russia winning the gold medal – according to Michelle Crechiolo of the Pens’ website.

This is Malkin’s second gold medal in three years. The other came back in 2012, in which Malkin was also named the tournament’s MVP, as well as best forward – per Crechiolo.

In four games for Russia, Malkin registered three points (2G, 1A).
