Report: Pens Fire Head Coach Dan Bylsma

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced the hiring of Jim Rutherford as the new general manager, and have relieved their head coach.

During Friday’s press conference, Rutherford relayed that he spoke with Dan Bylsma that morning, and in fact fired him as head coach – per Josh Yohe of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Rutherford stated the ownership wants a different direction, and that Bylsma will coach in the league again.

Rutherford is seeking a coach before Jul. 1, however, there are no clear-cut names that are on his pecking order – per Yohe.

Stay tuned.
