Report: Penguins to Play Anaheim Ducks in Home Opener

It’s going to be a battle of the birds in the Penguins’ home opener.

According to the Pens’ Twitter handle, Pittsburgh will play their first game at the CONSOL Energy Center on Thursday, Oct. 9, against the Anaheim Ducks.

The tilt is set to start at 7 p.m.

In both meetings last season between the two, Pittsburgh came out on top. Defeating Anaheim 3-1 on Nov. 18 at home, Pittsburgh wound up topping the Ducks 3-2 in a shootout on their pond, in March.

The last six outings between the Pens and Ducks, Pittsburgh has garnered four wins. The Penguins are 3-3 in their last six home openers.

The rest of their 2014-15 schedule has yet to be released.
